Most coffee shops buy their beans from large commercial roasters. The result is coffee that’s pre-roasted, pre-bagged, and weeks past peak by the time it’s brewed.
Sanctuary Coffee Refuge is different. They serve coffee that we roast ourselves at Sanctuary Roasting in Clovis. Small batches. Roasted fresh every Wednesday and Thursday. Specialty grade. Served days after roasting.

Signature Drinks at Sanctuary Coffee Refuge
Chef Vatche’s 24+ years of culinary experience inform the drinks menu. The result is a list that goes beyond the standard café playbook:
- Cardamom & Saffron Latte — Aromatic ground cardamom, floral saffron, smooth espresso, steamed milk. A nod to Chef Vatche's Armenian-Lebanese roots.
- Viennese Cappuccino — Espresso, frothed milk, honey, finished with fine cinnamon. Inspired by the grand cafés of Vienna.
- Vanilla Rosemary Latte — Fresh rosemary infused with vanilla. Herbal, sophisticated, balanced.
- Honey Cortado — Espresso and milk sweetened with natural honey. Simple, perfect.
- The Preacher — Their specialty house creation. (You’ll just have to come try it.)
Plus the classics — espresso, americano, latte, cappuccino, cold brew, Yama slow-drip. Hot tea, spiced chai, hot chocolate. Blended drinks for hot Fresno afternoons.

Important context: Sanctuary Roasting and Sanctuary Coffee Refuge are two separate businesses with two separate addresses. Here’s how it works:
- Sanctuary Roasting — Online specialty coffee roaster in Clovis. 12 W Palo Alto Ave. We roast and ship beans nationwide — not a walk-in café. Open to customers Wednesday and Thursday, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, to buy freshly roasted coffee or pick up online orders.
- Sanctuary Coffee Refuge — Walk-in café in Fresno, open seven days a week. 5415 N West Ave Ste C, adjacent to Northwest Church. They serve and stock our coffee.
Same founder — Chef Vatche Moukhtarian, classically trained chef and Food Network Guy’s Grocery Games winner. Same obsession with quality. Two doors to walk through.

Choose “Pickup” at checkout and select Sanctuary Coffee Refuge at Northwest Church. The café is open seven days a week and always stocked with Sanctuary coffee — ordering ahead makes sure a particular coffee, like decaf, is there for you. Orders that need replenishment are generally available Wednesday or Thursday, when we roast in Clovis; orders placed Friday or Saturday may wait until then. Wait for your ready-for-pickup email before coming in, and bring it with you.
Prefer the roastery? Pickup at Sanctuary Roasting in Clovis is Wednesdays and Thursdays only, 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
